An open invitation by Rev. Araba Quaye

If I were to take a quick survey, I’m sure most people would say that they have been invited or have received an invitation to attend a celebration at one point in their lives.

Usually, once an invitation is received to a celebration, there is excitement, anticipation and an expectation of having a wonderful time. What if I were to say that there is an invitation that outmatches even the most lavish celebration this world could ever offer?

The most important invitation anyone could receive is an invitation for the salvation of his or her soul.

Jesus said, “And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?” (Mark 8:36-37).

Our souls are so precious in the eyes of the Heavenly Father. A soul is worth even more than the whole world! The salvation of our souls was so important to God that He was willing to do whatever it took to save us from our sins and have us reconciled to Him. He sacrificed the life of His son, Jesus Christ, so that we could be saved from our sin and celebrate with him in the most lavish banquet that is beyond this world – the marriage supper of the Lamb. (Revelation 19:6-9).

Today Jesus Christ is inviting you.He is saying, “come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you because I am humble and gentle at heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30).

“Keep on asking and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking and you will find, keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7).

An invitation that promises to carry your heavy burdens AND give you rest?! It’s an invitation like no other. It’s one that you cannot lose out on.

If you would like to accept this invitation please say this prayer out loud, “Dear Heavenly Father, please forgive me of my sin. Jesus, I thank you that you died for me. I believe that You were raised from the dead and I ask you to be my Lord and personal Saviour. You said that all who are weary and heavy burdened should come to you. So I am accepting your invitation and giving you all my heavy burdens so I can receive your wonderful rest. Thank you for hearing my prayer in Jesus’ name.”

If you prayed that prayer and meant it, I believe the Lord has answered it. Congratulations on accepting this great invitation!
